 Dream. No - nightmare

The day befoe yesterday I had a very strange dream.
I was - as a parent - attending the semestral concert of our daughter's music school (elementary schools have no concept of bands here, that has been outsourced).

Anyhow, it was an impressive lineup of instruments:
Flutes, recorders, two alto saxes, a soprano sax, three bassoons, two oboes, a number of trumpets, cornets, trombones and the like (I only saw lots of shiny bells), pianos, accordions, guitars, strings in all variations, percussion - the works.
But not a single clarinet.

I wonder what that means.

The clarinet parts were covered by a Casio keyboard.

you fear impotence

(that's what you get for posting your dreams - you might as well put naked pictures of yourself on "Myspace")

What did you eat/drink before retiring for the night?

We need to campaign to get clarinet added to the endangered instruments list.

You fear that your daughter's musical abilities will outshine your own.

Oh well, there's not much to outshine. And kids learn at an enviable pace.

I dreamed last night that my son asked me if I needed any money.

When all the school kids are named either Jordan or Taylor, only the trumpet and flute will be represented in recital.

Personally, I think you earn one "Get out of a boring family event" for every night you sit through yet another Harry Potter extravaganza...

It means that your music school has realised that our generation is over-supplied with clarinet players, and needs oboists and bassoonists.

Send them to Burnham, we need them.

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.

To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.
