Good afternoon everybody,
I picked up a 2-disc set of Joplin Rags played by William Albright (an organist and composer from the U. of Michigan who died a few years ago). He was a big part of the ragtime/boogie-woogie/stride piano revival in the late '60s. After being blown away by his technical abilities I began to research him. It seems that he wrote a piece called "Abiding Passions for Woodwind Quintet." Has anybody performed or heard this work? Is anybody familiar with William Albright in general?
Thanks,
Dan

BlockEyeDan,
Albright has also composed several clarinet works, atleast one of which is for solo clarinet, is believe entitled "saints preserve us." Him, and William Bolcom definately brought rag time back into vogue with their performances and original compositions.
Bolcom also has an excellent clarinet concerto. I heard the world premeire several yrs back w/ Mr Charlie Salinger (sp?) and the delaware Symphony.
Best
