A while ago I posted a question about Bonade mouthpieces. I had gotten a Leblanc L7 (great clarinet!) on Ebay and it came with a Bonade Clarity mouthpiece. At the time I had not received it yet and was going by photos posted on Ebay. Well, I have since received the clarinet and mouthpiece, so I thought I would post some photos. I am trying to decide what to do with it. I am curently using a Hite premeir mouthpiece and compared to that this seems to be a little stuffy, althought it seems better up high. Tone seems similar to the Hite. The face is not pristeene thought the marks are small and do not extend across either rail or the tip. So I am looking for advice and counsel. Should I get it refaced? Is it worth the refacing cost? Should I spend some time living with it as is? The trouble is, I am in a couple of concert bands and need to be capable of playing resonable well as we have concerts comming up. I know from experience I can get myself tied in a knot switching mouthpieces (and of course reeds) and trying things.
Thanks
J B Lansing

Fine "giant pics", JBL. I have an older D Bonade mp and as I recall, it played with considerable volume, am not sure of it's reface-history. In some of the other [Chedeville] mp discussions, the appearance of the ligature marks, one above, 3 below seemed to indicate mps being made from high quality "blanks". Others, please help, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

I usually try to change equipment between seasons, when I have at least a few weeks before playing in public.
The mouthpiece is probably promising, as near as I can tell from a picture, but if the marks on the left rail are nicks and not just dirt, you'll probably want to have it refaced. (No, I'm not looking for business: I generally avoid doing refacing at this time of year.)
Most of the Chedevilles I've worked on (probably 50-60 by now) have been one line up, two down.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds like it is worth refacing. The marks on the left rail are, indeed, nicks, also all the edges seem slightly rounded. So maybe I will do that and have it ready to work with after the concerts.
Thanks again
