I was at Manning's the other day. I did not get to play the Paquinet but I did see one. He was not too forthcoming with information about it, but it basically looks like a closed hole clarinet. I recall seeing a vent on the left hand first finger E/B key. I guess you could say its like a bass clarinet on a soprano clarinet body. It did not look like it used saxophone fingerings, but I could be wrong about that.

P.S. By the way, Manning make a custom line of saxophones, reeds for all the saxes and clarinet, has some very cool alto and tenor sax cases with covers, and has a full line of mouthpieces. The mouthpieces are an original blank of his own making. I just bought an alto mouthpiece that was reasonably priced and simply amazing feeling & sounding. Check his stuff out if you can.
