I have searched the forum and now more confused. If I am looking for a less resistance freer blowing mouth piece with bright and loud sound. Do I go for wider tip with a softer reed or closer tip with harder reed? and what about the facing? Do I want long or short facing? How will that affect the free blowing bright tone and reed selection? I don't know the tip and facing of my current mouth piece but the VandoranV12 #3 seems to be the right strengh for my embrachure muscle strength. Also, if I decide on maybe a Vandoran B45, do I have to try out several because they are all different? Music stores will let you do that? I don't think there is anyone in my area who can adjust clarinet mouth pieces to custom fit. I would be willing to pay more, I think, if I were guaranteed it would work for me but I can't afford to experiment by buying expensive mouth pieces. How much are the hand made mouth pieces discussed occasionally in the forum? Thanks for any help.
