 Hi, all.

Now that I finished 'Mozart Forgeries' (BTW, thank you for the information about the author in my previous post), I'm wondering whether there are other clarinet -related literary works: novels, short stories or poems.

(I also liked the rhymes some of our talented bboarders contributed in previous post
  )

Many speculate that "Hamlet" was just a metaphor for the Metropolitan Opera clarinet auditions of the mid-eighties.

I believe a Sherlock Holmes novel was originally titled "The Clarinet of the Baskervilles." Instead of people being killed by a hound, they were all clarinet players who got super-open mouthpieces from a maker who shall remain nameless, and when they tried to play them, the mouthpieces devoured their heads.

 Happy Haloween dreams.

There was a recent book subtitled Sex, Lies and Screechsticks about a professional musician with the night life of a James Bond.

 Hi,

I was thinking about some possible titles for a clarinet literary work or two (with regrets to Hemmingway, Twain, Poe, and others). I'd like to suggest:

 1. The Tell-Tale Reed Heart
 2. The Turn of the Ligature Screw
 3. Lord of the Bell Ring
 4. The Old Man and the Middle C
 5. The Great Jazzby
 6. The Reed Badge of Courage
 7. For Whom the Bell Cracks
 8. Huckleberry Fine
 9. The Picture of Dorian Mode

 And others as well.

Vunderbahr, HRL, what a good group ! I've spent at least 30 sec. of thought as to the distinction between "literary" [?f[r]ictional?] and ?real? info on cls etc. Where does history, as beautilfully presented by Al Rice in his Baroque and Classic Cl books, fit it ?? Don

 Thanx, Mark, Don

Many people have heard of Homer's "The Odyssey", however few have every read Homer's "The Artys" (let's see how many people get THAT one . . .)

How about that Lord of the Tenon Rings trilogy?

Retired, playing more sax than clarinet, but still playing clarinet and still loving it!

 Bob,

 I got one, I got one !!!!

"I Love You, I Hate You, Goodbye," by Artie Shaw

Well, maybe not exactly what "C" is looking for, but it's closer to being on topic.

Thank you very much, Bob and Paul.

I understand there are not may clarinet related books around, and it was okay to enjoy some of bboarders' creative jokes. I always admire how they come up with such puns (of course, it's your language..).

 I do appreciate your help.
 I'll check Artie Shaw's book.

I just finished "Anne of Greenline Gables" where our protagonist heroine finds existential bliss on Prince Edward Island in a hodge-podge mix of grenadilla dust and expoxy resin.
