Thanks - I live in East London - my family are all OK, but I have a friend who works in central London from whom I still haven't heard - fingers crossed that he wasn't travelling at that time.....
I think it's the first time we've ever had the TV on all day, to keep up with events - all sorts of awful accounts are emerging from people who were trapped on the tube. I just don't know how people can do this kind of thing to one another......

Scary day for my family as my niece Jennifer lives and works in London. It took hours until my sister was able to reach her and I know all stops were pulled. Jen is just fine, now she is worried about finding her friends who frequent the underground. My deepest sympathy to all of England.

I don't think people do these things to people; they must first reduce their targets to something sub-human.
I wonder if the concept of cowardice is foreign to other cultures.

Sympathies to all in the UK.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performed the Opening Concert yesterday at the World Music Contest Foundation Kerkrade in the Netherlands. The orchestra was just out of London when the first bomb exploded. They started their concert with a minute of silence.
The programme was a mixture of English and Russian repertoire. After William Walton's overture Portsmouth Point the first part of the concert will be taken up by Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations. The second part of the concert will be Peter Tchaikovski's famous 4th Symphony. They changed this program to end with Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations…
I was unable to be at the concert yesterday, but I’m sure it was a worthy concert dedicated to all people in the UK.
Again my deepest sympathies to all people in the UK and especially for our UK friends on the board.

My band is doing a 'Last Night of the Proms' charity concert tomorrow. I suspect that 'Land of Hope and Glory' and 'Rule Britannia' will be sung with more gusto than usual.
