Does anyone know of any pieces or duets for clarinet and harp? Preferably just clarinet and harp, without any other instruments, but whatever you can think of. I know it's kind of an odd combination, but is there anything out there? Thanks in advance

New Years Preludes by Ross Carey. i performed this (with Piano, but it's originally for harp and works better that way) as part of a recital at Clarinetfest 2003 and it was very well recieved. You do need to be able to play softly in the altissimo though....

for fun, you could play the clarinet/harp duet from the overture to Verdi's La Forza del Destino - come to think of it, it's actually for clarinet and two harps, but I think it's playable with the first harp alone. you could order the parts from Kalmus, I'd think

^^ The clarinet solo with harp in La Forza is one of my favorite clarinet passages in the orchestral repertoire. Might be too short to be able to stand alone though.
There are many beautiful pieces written for the combination of flute and harp. You may look into transcribing some of these.

Just as a small aside, the Ewazen piece for Clarinet, Harp and String Orchestra is arranged for Clarinet, Harp and Piano as well. Very beautiful piece.
Beware though, around here if you mention playing the piece with any other instrumentation than exactly what the composer originally penned on the very first day that he got a whim for the composition...you might offend someone. ![[right]](http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/smileys/smilie8.gif)
