Before playing, chewing some sugarless gum can help with a dry mouth. Chewing the gum stimulates the salivary glands, especially if you're a little bit hungry. Just be sure to remember to get rid of the gum before you play! That would be a fine howdy-do, to spit the gum into the reed!
