My son, an amateur pianist, and I attemped to play an arrangement of K 622, for Piano & Bb clarinet, and discovered that, in the third measure from the last of the Adagio, the clarinet line printed (and transcribed) in the piano accompaniment book differed from the solo clarinet pages. (There may have been other differences but that's as far as we got.)
Is this sort of thing unusual? Or was Harry Bettoney, the arranger (according to the cover of the book, although the Adagio was marked as arranged by "A.E. Harris") just nodding when he put the piece together?
The copyright notice is 1945, Cundy-Bettoney Co, Boston

Since many modern editions now attempt to reconstruct the basset clarinet version of K.622, the 1945 Cundy-Bettoney edition is now considered quite outdated by today's standards.
There are also a few misprints in notes and phrasing which need correction.
Use the link cited by Mark C to choose an edition which is more up to date ...GBK

Generally, I have seen this in several of the major publishers' versions of clarinet standards. I'm sure many of you have seen the mistake in the Weber concerto II third movement published by International. The end of the introduction (descending thirds) is incorrect in the clarient part (actually it's completely different than the piano score) but correct in the piano part. I've also seen this in the first concerto (Weber), a piece by Bartok (Masters), and a few others. So the short answer is yeah, this is pretty common. My best guess is that it's a way to bypass copyright (change it so you can say it's different?) but I don't really have a clue...maybe you're right...not enough coffee.

I went back and looked at my copy of the piece and low and behold I have the Cundy-Bettony version. The clarinet part is correct.
