One of my clarinets has a tiny bit of "play" in the throat tone A key. It doesn't really annoy me or affect playability. Should it be adjusted? If the play is eliminated, can this affect venting on this or other notes?

What do you mean by "play"? If you mean that it lifts slightly before it actuates the G# key, then that's just the way it is supposed to be! Don't change it! If this doesn't happen on your other clarinets, adjust them accordingly.

A small bit of play is okay. You can remove the play by adjusting the screw on top of the throat Ab key but you run the risk of creating a leak on the Ab. If there's too much play adjust the screw but leave a little play to make sure the Ab doesn't leak.
