... main drawback i found just trying out fully automatic older Buffet for the first time, it was noticeably top heavy, and being a metal-lined tenon model and thicker wood full conservatory too, the instrument was pretty heavy overall, and darn it, the thumb-rest wasn't particularly comfortable. The reed was tipped too much forward into upper lip as result of the unexpected extra weight.
Of course one adapts to that extra weight eventually, but for a first timer it was definitely a turn-off, even though the instrument's gloriously rich tone was drop-dead gorgeous, temptation & frustration, sigh, bitter-sweet minor melody (:-(
other drawback i can think of is -- more stuff on oboe = more things that need tweaking from time to time = more down-time, what backup plan do you have?
think Chris P's advice very sound, stick to what's readily available and can be readily repaired over here, have you already found out how local and how exerienced your maintenance help will be?
