I am 1st oboe on the Danse and doubling 1st on the Scheherazade. That excellent and talented english horn player (though i can't show all of you) is a 19 year old college student from the island of Penang (situated at North Peninsula Malaysia, known for excellent Asian hawker food and tourist spots if you are interested for a holiday!).
In fact, our whole flute section is male dominant! (cheers?)
The strings makes me cringe in most rehearsals, but non the less, there are quite a number of really talented young people in there. Pity they didnt show the Elegy from Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings, because they really did a good job there.
