FYI,
I just got my oboe back from Weber. Everything feels great. The notes feel more "locked in", with an even scale and nice high register. There's plenty of "ring" in the sound and I consider it a well-spent $250.
The adjustment is not to make the oboe "like new", meaning if you have a blown out instrument, it's not going to add wood back, but it will do some serious improvements. Check out his website for more information.
Ken, I've heard of the James Caldwell oboe, but what is it? What are the modifications? How is it better or worse? Is it a Loree or Laubin model?
PS. CAldwell's new CD sounds great. His Le Tombeau is so nice. Seems like the closest of anyone to DeLancie's sound.
