I don't know about the Fox, but my first oboe, a Cabart, did not have a Bb vent. The tuner thought it was an A. :0 The Bb key was basically useless as a Bb.

I have no dramas getting Bb in tune on my Marigaux with the vent. If I was able to choose, I would get the vent.
