I bought some pre tied reeds but they are unfinished and the tip is closed - each time I try to scrape the reed after I cut the tip so it is opened they always split down the middle ( all the way ) and ruined - it is very thick , am i doing something wrong - i notice that the reed is convex - shaped like a football at the opening I am thinking that if I put pressure on the reed it will split down the middle - so do how do I make the reed flat with my knife start at the top or the bottom. Or where do I start ? I am a beginner and I am cheap.
