 Hi, everyone:

I am contemplating the purchase of a composite-bodied oboe for very occasional use as a doubling instrument. Thing is, the ensemble I'll be using it with plays outdoors, often on crowded stages, and I've had my clarinet knocked over more than once despite using a sturdy stand.

So my question is: What composite-bodied oboe stands the best chance of holding up in the event it gets banged around a little? The only oboe I'm at all familiar with are the old wooden La Marque I studied on in double-reeds class as a Music Ed major. There were a couple of Selmer Signets in use in that class which seemed to be robustly constructed and actually sounded pretty decent, too. Would an old Signet be a good model to deploy here?
