Can anyone recommend any music shops within day-trip distance from Connecticut that will have professional model bass clarinets in stock? At the moment the only one I can think of is Rayburn Music in Boston. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

There are a number of stores that stock pro bass clarinets in Montreal. I did the day-trip frequently when I was in New Haven.
When I bought my Buffet Prestige 1193 bass, two stores in Montreal had between them 4 Prestiges and 2 Selmer Privileges.
In case you are interested, I chose the Prestige. In my opinion (and the opinion of the people for whom I played them) it wasn't close. The Prestige sounded warmer, wider, deeper and more in tune.
The stores in Mtl are:
Twigg Musique - http://www.twigg-musique.com/
Veraquin- http://www.veraquin.com/en/index.php
They all speak English.

Thanks for the tip Simon. I haven't been to Montreal since my college days in upstate NY and wasn't aware of the music store situation there. I'd definitely like to try out both the Selmer and Buffet models. It'd be nice to find someone that carried the Yamaha models too but that might be too much to hope for.
