Wondering if any of you have heard Andras Farkas jr. and the Budapest ensemble. I have a CD entitled Hungarian Gypsy music. It has a picture of the four musicians on the cover. The main guy holding his violin, and his clarinet player behind him and to his right. It is a very interesting combination of instruments being violin, clarinet, cello, and hammered dulcimer or as they call it I think, the cymbal.
The music is pretty dark and dramatic, consisting mostly of slow tunes, I would guess more for listening then dancing. The main instrument is definitely the violin which is incredible, with the cello providing low-end, and the clarinet and hammered dulcimer seeming to provide a counterpoint to the melodies of the violin.
The clarinet player has a very interesting round clean tone, was fast vibrato. He is definitely not an in-your-face type player, seeming pretty reserved in his backup, as well as his solo pieces on the CD of which there are two.
The name of the clarinet player is Jorsef Sarkori.
It is a great cd for me, as I (attempt) to play both the violin and clarinet, and this is the only one I have seen anyway with both instruments on it...Highly recommended by me!
