Chris,
From what I understand, Bozhidar (Boki is short for this) is ethnically Serbian. But being an ethnic clarinetist from that region, he plays all different nationalities (to include Serbian, Macedonian, Romany, etc.). Everything that I have heard Boki play has been one of these three nationalities.
He has come to the U.S. once, back in the late 80's - early 90's. I think that was his only appearance here in the Pgh. area.
Boki has I think 2 published albums, but they are very rare here in the U.S. I have a bad duplication of one of them that dates back to the 1980's. I have been looking for them as well, being an East European clarinetist (as a hobby) from Pittsburgh, but have been to lazy to go get them.
There is a Balkan radio broadcast every Sunday here in Pittsburgh and the host knows him personally. She may be one of the only ways to get copies of his stuff here in the U.S. Her name is Vlatka Zgonc and lives in Pittsburgh. She broadcasts on an AM station in Pgh WPIT 5-6 pm Sundays. Her website is: www.vlatkazgonc.com
Unfortunately, here in the U.S. there isn't a great demand for ethnic music from East and Southeast Europe, unless you are part of a specific culture (Serb, Bulgar, Slovak, Slovenian, Carpatho-Rusyn, Romanian, etc). There are tons of excellent clarinetists and the different styles of Eastcentral Europe are amazing. That is why you don't see him (them) here.
I hope this answered your question. If you contact Vlatka, tell her I said "hi" she is a personal friend of mine here in Pgh.
