 C Clarinets

Hi!

I'm 4 years into playing klezmer on bb Clarinet(although I'm also only 4 years on the clarinet), and a mentor and some clarinetists I met think I may want a C clarinet.

My concerns are that when learning by ear on the spot, I will have a hard time because what I finger will not be what I hear, and that there seem to be no student price c clarinets that are decent.

Is learning the new notes on C clarinet something I should learn earlier rather than later? Is there a good brand to look into? Does anyone have experience doubling keys?

Thank you! I appreciate any help.
