Hey guys! in band class we're playing Robert Smith's piece Africa,(grade 5), and now after the first few days its pretty easy to play...i'm curious if anyone knows any Grade 6 pieces that i can check out...thankx

hmm, songs by Holst and Shostakovich are great band pieces, but thats my opinion. some are grade 5 and others are grade 6. hope this helps.

Mussorsky (excuse spelling) can be quite challenging Ask about doing the entire pictures at an exhibition work. In particular The Old CAstle or THe great Gate of Kiev. I did the old castle for my 5th grade sax exam last year and it has like 5 flats so its a challenge. THe Gate of Kiev one has some great Polyphonic textural sections that you will enither enjoy playing or hate. I hope this helps.

You should play American Overture for Band. It's a TERRIFIC piece of music. Also, you should try to get a band version of Firebird Suite (exactly the same as the orchestral version except scored for band). Incredible music. Holst has some great stuff too
