 Alto Sax fingering...

Hi, I'm a fairly experienced sax player. I've been playing since 4th grade and I'm in 12th grade now. Our smyphonic band has just gotten a new piece that requires me to play this awful 4th octave G... way up there. I asked a friend at school and he suggested a fingering, but it didn't work. I found a fingering on this website, it's T 1Bb––G#|Bb ƒ#–––, but I can only get it out goin up from f#, g and in the piece it goes from a B to the G and then rest and a G, so obviously I can't take it up chromatically. Is there any advice to get this to come straight out, or another fingering that has worked for anybody else? Your help would be much appreciated!

you can experiement with your own fingering, but that can cost a lot of practise time you might not have. and headache of others around you too. practise long tones up that high. over time, you'll be able to hit that G without chromatically crawling up. eventually you'll be able the G much easier, and the jump will be much easier. and don't neglect the notes inbetween, you'll need those later on too. hope this helps.
