I am a beginner at playing a saxaphone, and I need to know which one is easier to play? Alto or Soprano.Which one would you recommend for a "beginner".

for a beginner an alto. alto is a standard sax that all teachers are supposed to know. alto is able to play almost every type of music. and is realitively easy to pick up and play. soprano offeres different challenges. tuning is the biggest. soprano's love going sharp, on every given day. they are only played in jazz and the extremely rare concert piece. plus once you learn one sax, you have the basics to learn any sax. all the fingerings are the same. there are many private instructors that are best equipped on an alto sax. so go for alto, and in a while when you get great on that sax, you can always try another. hope this helps.

I agree. You should start on alto. They are the easiest sax to play and the most generally useful. Soprano sax is a difficult and very specialised instrument which has a lovely sound but is rarely used.
