Hi woodwinders, I started playing Flute last tuesday and learned the fingerings pretty fast since I allready plays sax, and the fingerings are not that different. I do have some serious problems though... I have very big problems when going up from octave 1 to 2 (or 2 to 1... im not sure...) I think it is an emboucher problem... (my thumb still tries to find the octave key :( ) Anyone who can help me? (sorry for the bad english)

The most important thing when controlling octaves is the air speed. And the second most important thing is the opening of the lips. Low register notes require slow air (but not too slow) and a small opening of the lips like a football shape. Middle register notes require fast air and smaller opening of the lips.
You also have to be aware of how much your lower lip covers the hole. Covering the hole about 1/4 for the low notes and 1/3 for the middle and high notes is usual. Experiment in front of a mirror and you'll all figure this out.

You actually want to cover MORE of the hole in the low notes. I don't know about exact fractions or anything, but keep trying until you find a place that works and is in tune.

Thanks for answers, I do have one more question... Since I play sax and now flute, will I "destroy" my sax-embouchere when starting to play flute? The main reason I ask, is because some in the orchestra I play in said it. Thanks for answers anyway :-D

No, you won't "destroy" your embouchure. you may have to focus on your embouchure more than usual when you play sax, but it won't "destroy" your sax-embouchure. Just don't let yourself slip into bad habits.

It won't destroy, it will just take time for your two ambechures to adjust to two different instruments.
