Hi everybody! My daughter wants to play the flute. I do not know anything about instruments. What would be a good starting flute for her? She is 10 years old and plays the recorder in school.

Hi there. Learning the recorder is good start, as the fingering pattern on recorder is pretty much similiar to the flute's and some other woodwind instrument's. A lot of people would recommend the Yamaha flute as a beginning flute. I'm currently playing a Yamaha 211 student model flute and its a great starting flute(and affordable too!). I'm not sure of the price of the Yamaha student model flutes in the US because I don't live in the US(haha.. ^_^;;).
Usually beginners start on a closed hole, offset G, C foot flute. I guess you don't know what this means but anyway, I think the first, and the best thing to do is ask for your daughter's flute-teacher-would-be for advice on buying a flute. You don't really have to go for Yamahas as there're other great student flutes to check it out...it just depends on your budget. Good luck!

I could give you tones of recomendations and all that jazz but the best thing to do is to goto a Professor at one of your local collages or your Private Flute Teacher and ask them to help you find a flute that is right for you. The reason I say this is because some teachers like open hole for beginers some like platue. It is all prefference really.

Hello,
If anyone plays the flute here, can you please give me a finguring chart, I need one because I'm playing a couple of Christmas songs for my church, I'm mostly playing low notes
in the songs that I'm playing, the Christmas songs that I'm going to play the church are Savior, Like A Shepherd, Silent Knights, and Jingle Bells, so if anyone has a finguring chart that even has a lowest b natural and b flat that would be a great help for, and if you do my email is mccabeslittle11@msn.com. Thanks
