 I just finished coming home from the last rehearsal from the community concert band. I was invited to play in the university alumni orchestra, so that's where I'm going. I don't know how much I will miss them though; concert band is concert band, and frankly, an oboist's nightmare. Whether it be tuning to a Bb, having to play sharp (i've tried to fight the pitch down, and it doesn't work) or having to try to hear myself over the chainsawing blast of 8 saxophones, I think an orchestra setting my settle my nerves. Who else feels this way?

 have to admit, orchestra is a lot better then band.  My school doesnt have an orchestra, so I play in one over the summer, and we have no oboes sign up but like 12 flutes.  So I switched from flute to oboe and got to be my own section! especially cool bacause one song had four short solos.  but yeah, orchestras are better
