Hi! I recently got a plastic Recorder as a gag (I've been playing Rock and Roll Guitar for 13 years)...and I was amazed at the versatility of the instrument...especially since I had to play one as a kid and hated it! I will soon buy a REAL recorder, since I have been composing songs on and playing the plastic one so much. I happen to know a lot of good trill fingerings, and would like to know as much about the instrument as possible! Do these fingerings translate to any other instruments??? Like Piccolo for instance? If so, I would LOVE to know! Thanks! Robert

Here I have a partial answer:
Fingerings for recorder and piccolo are not the same although
similarities on a some notes exist. Different types (sizes) of
recorders exist where the fingerings translate but the sound frequency (notes) will be shifted.

On a recorder in c: low e flat, just close holes 0 12345 closed, 6 partially closed (0 = thumb)
high e flat holes 123 456 closed (thumb home open)
on a recorder in f: low e flat, close holes 01 45
high e flat Ø 12 456 (Ø=thumb hole partially closed)
the holes not numbered are open
