how tight should u tighten a ligature? is there a difference between tighting a ligature too hard in the sound?

You should tighten the ligature enough untill you feel slight resistance with the screw. Overtightening can strip the screw and lead to breakage.

Too tight a ligature can affect the sound. Think of it this way, how well would you sing if someone was squeezing your throat.

If the ligature is too loose, the reed will move. If the ligature is too tight, the sound will be restricted. Tighten the ligature just enough that the reed doesn't move.
