 im thinking of moving to contrabassoon and i was wondering if the fingerings are any different, i mean i know the way it sits is different but other than that im not sure.

 Look at the charts for contrabassoon on this site and see are they any different.
 
 Click on Contrabassoon in the left margin of your screen. If you don't see a brown left margin, click on the link at the top of this page "Back to the Woodwind Fingering Guide".

 They are not too different until you get to middle "g".  Any higher, and the fingerings can be challenging just because they are different.  Be aware that the bigger spacing of the keys is something to get used to, so speed probably won't be there in the first stages of beginning.  There is a standard fingering chart available, but each contra is different and might require a deviation from the suggested one.  Just play around with it and have fun.  You'll be glad you switched.
