Hey everyone...recently I borrowed my friend and fellow tenor sax's saxophone to play a concert (It should be said that he has the exact same brand of saxophone that I do...a Jupiter 889SG Artist Series) His sax is actually owned by the school, and his Jupiter mouth piece was replaced with a Selmer mouthpiece a few years ago because of a crack in it. I still have my Jupiter mouth piece. When I played his sax, I noticed a very different change in tone between the two mouth pieces. Since my emphasis is jazz, does anyone know of any tenor sax mouth pieces that would be best for jazz?

I dont remember the exact name but vandoren makes some nice hard rubber jazz mouthpieces try going on their site to find some. Also some say metal mouthpieces are more suited for Jazz( I personaly think not). Try some out and check www.wwbw.com for some mouthpiece info+ price

Well i dont remember what its called but there are metal mouthpieces, like tekk said, which have a jazzy tone...Its kinda weird to play on because it vibrates like crazy so use a mouthpiece pad and its takes away all your air away.

I know this is a little late, but still helpful.
I use the Claude Lakey mouthpieces on my tenor, alto, soprano and clarinet.
They make a terrific jazz style mouthpiece, if you get any of the *4 facings.
I've been using them since 1976. Not terribly expensive. Wholenotemusic.com carries them for $69.
