 Altissimo

Hey everyone...I've recently decided to start working on altissimo notes on my tenor sax...I can play up to a high F#, but no altissimo notes. At first when I decided to start working on my altissimo notes, it was just for the heck of it, but now I actually need to be able to hit a G for a song...any tips?

Practice on the altissimo fingerings for Eb and F before you try any of the higher ones. You have to change your embouchure considerably.

(I was a sax player for some years, before oboe) Altissimo on saxophone doesn't start until F#, or G for certain models. You best bet is to try to hit the A (on top of fourth ledger) and then work your way down to the Ab and then finally G.

to add to the above, the reason the G is so hard to hit (if you can do it then great) is because it is the lowest of the altissimo notes

Strange, I play alto and it was fairly easy to reach the G, it took some practise to get the G#/Ab, but I only once got that A (I think). Practice'll be the key, no?

Yeah thats weird I play alto too and the g is very easy for me now nut n e ways....go and look at the fingering charts on this website and go through each fingering and try to c if it works but do it in front of a tuner to make sure its that note. find fingerings that are easy to switch notes in a scale and then i suggest prasticing chromatic scales each time trying to go a little higher each time.
