i have seen lots of topics here concerning articulation technics of most of the woodwind instruments, for example double tounging, multiphonics, but my tutor tells me that this technics are not quite possible to do on most of the woodwinds, which includes the oboe and clarinet. so can someone tell me if they really are impossible or if they aren't how to practise and practically use them.

well i can tell you one thing and that is that double tounging is possible. I could do it but for a small amount of time and it takes lots of pratice to do this and for every instrument it is different. I have heard of woodwind players doing other stuff like muliphonics but i have to see this to believe it.

Impossible? nothings impossible it just takes time. Multiphonics are possible. I've hit one multiphonic note(notes?), you have to be careful or it'll go to one note or the other. multiphonics aren't hard but all you have to do is get the fingurings, thats the hard part.

heres a site were they explain somewhat what multiphonics are and explains thatthey are used for. to me it really doesn't explain much, but thats just me. and the BIG part of this is that there is an oboe multiphonics fingering chart at the bottom.

The quintessential example of woodwind double tonguing is Bedrich Smetana's Overture to The Bartered Bride. Get a copy of that if you wanna hear some major double tonguing coming from the woodwind section.

All I know is that double tounging is possible except in single reed instruments like clarinet and saxophone.

Although one of the most difficult techniques for clarinet, double tounging is possible. but like others have said, it does take loads and loads of practice
