I of hand by my name u can tell that I play sax. I also want to learn how to play all woodwind instrument too and so far i could play clarinet and flute pretty well.
Ive been meanning to pick up the oboe becuase i love the sound of it but I talked to the oboe players at my school and they said that they get headaches every single time they play. Can someone tell me why this happens and if theres a way to fix this.

They are probably not breathing correctly. If you can play flute without getting a headache, you should be fine.

Being an oboe player myself, I experienced that quite a bit. What most new oboist do is play with a clamped jaw, so it requires so much extra effort and air thrust. This in turn causes tension to build up in one head, therefore, headache! The solution is to always play with your mouth shaped like an O, with your tounge low in your mouth. This allows the air to pass through, however small the apature may be, freely.

I know this question was asked a couple years ago, but just for anyone (such as myself) who happened upon it only recently:

I have been playing the oboe for many years now and the only time I ever get a headache is when I do not breath properly (or not at all). It's simply lack of oxygen to the brain.

If you take private lessons, ask your instructor to help you decide when the proper "breath" point is in a passage. That will help a lot.
