For some odd reason, my parents tend to get me a flute, and they did. I have no idea how to operate a flute, I can't make a sound because I have an improper imbrochure, but I have the keying right, I think. I'm really clueless to the flute, plus I have no private teacher to teach me the flute, I don't wanna learn a whole lot of flute, because I'm a basic Sax player. but I need people's help on the beginner step towards flute

First lets get the embouchure formation correct.
First take off the head joint and start with that only.
1. Hold the head joint with the embouchure hole against the lips. Feel with the tongue that the hole is centered on the lip.
2. Roll the joint forward untile the embouchure ole is parallel with the floor, with the lower lip covering one-fourth to one-third of the hole.
3. Keeping the lower lip relaxed, pull the corners of the moouth back slightly to firm the upper lip.
4. Allow the center of the upper lip to relax so as to produce an opening no more than one-sixteenth of an inch high and one-half inch long. Preferably, this opening should be more of a diamond shape than an oval. It is never circular.
This should get you started.

When i was learning how to play the flute in 4th grade, my teacher made me blow into a bottle first. When i got a sound on that, i tried the flute. at first, it is hard to get a clear, constant sound, but after practice, youll get it. My best advice is to sit upright and follow the embrochure instructions Steven King gave you.
Good luck!

You should persevere with the flute because it is really not that difficult. You have been given the golden opportunity of learning another instrument for free! Keep up the sax, though.

My first band director taught flute by telling us that you start with just the head joint, and form your lips as if you were just about to say the letter "P" and then someone jumps out at you and tells you to freeze. With your mouth like that, put your lips on the head joint so that you will be blowing across the hole in the head and blow gently.
Sax is my main instrument, as well, but flute is my second, and I have enjoyed playing it a lot. Keep up both intsruments. You will expland not only your playing ability, but your understanding of music.

Go to a band instrument store and look over the beginner's books. Find one with good descriptions AND PICTURES. Buy it and use it.
