No, piano music is not the same as alto sax music since the alto sax is in Eb. If you have your piano melody there ready to play on alto, you have to take every note down a minor third from where it's written in the treble clef. That is to say, when you see a third space "C" written in the piano music, that corresponds to a second space "A" for the alto sax. You just take that relationship and follow it through the rest of the scale:
Alto Sax: A-Bb-B-C-C#-D-Eb-E-F-F#-G-G#-A
Piano: C-C#-D-Eb-E-F-F#-G-G#-A-Bb-B-C

Thanks for the great link. By the way...to transpose an entire song quikly...here is a cool trick you can use with the chart--
Although this chart tells you specific note transpositions, you can use the chart with keys. For example, you have a piece of music writen in G Major on a C instrument and wanted to transpose it to Alto Sax. On the chart a G is an E for an Eb instrument. You would compose the key of E Major on a blank score, and move all the notes on the staff down 2 whole notes (there are 2 whole notes between E and G). Tada, you would have a fresh transposition- fast and easy. I hope I am of help to you-

Does anyone know of any free transposing web sites. I play the bflat clarinet in my church and I want to be able to be in tune with the piano when she plays. We have many other instruments playing too and if we could find something like that it would be of a great help to us.
