I'm just wondering which b-flat clarinet is better, Armstrong or Yamaha? Does anyone know?

It is always difficult to compare different brands of clarinet, as there are many different factors by which they can be compared. Each manufacturer produces a huge range of different models ranging from ultra-cheap to far more than I can afford.
If I compare, say a Buffet E-11 with a Leblanc Esprit, I find that the E-11 is much cheaper. But is this a fair comparison? SHould I be comparing the Esprit with a Buffet E-13 instead?
At the end of the day, the best guide to the quality of the instrument it the price. If you find that the Esprit sells for less everywhere than the E-13, then the chances are that it is not as good an instrument.
One other thing you should take into account is what does
everyone else play? In Ireland, clarinet players seem to play Buffet. I've heard that 90% of all professional clarinet players here play Buffet instruments, so that shows that this is a respectable choice.
