The band that I play in is doing a cover of Bob Segar's "Turn the Page" and since I played the sax some 15 years ago, I figured that I could learn the sax part. My problem is that the first two notes are F? and E? in the 3rd Octave and I just can't seem to hit those notes with any consistancy or resonance like in the song. Can someone help me out with any hints.

you really just need to remember to tighten your embochure up enough to be able to play those notes!!!!!

And definitely use the palm key fingerings if you are looking for projection and resonance.

its all in the voicing, if you tighten your embochure to much you will cut off reed vibration. Be sure you can imagine the pitch before you play it. Be sure your reed isn't too soft. For more study in range extension try "top tones for saxophone" by Sigurd Rascher. An excelent utility with excersices that will help you to build tone imagination and pitch

Try tightening the bottom screw on the ligature as much as possible and barely tightenning the top one.

Well, your problem probabably is that since you haven't played in a while, your ambiture is not as advanced as it used to be hence you having a hard time with the F and E. But they are naturally difficult notes to make sound nice because of their height in the sax octaves. Try supporting your breathing and moving your lip up on the reed, that technique works with altissimo notes so it should work with high notes!
