Hey, um, i am an 8th grader that got accepted into our high school band early, and our new piece for our competition is chck full of trills. Now, the music we're doing in the middle school band is hokey little stuff that's mad easy. I've never done a trill b4 and need help with the fingerings. Does anyone have a chart or sumthing that shows what you trillfor each note, or at least some instructions or rules for trills? Please help! My band director is too busy to help me and none of my friends know how either. We are leaving for competion in less than a month!!!! Please help!!

Click on the link at the top of this page to bring you to the main page of this site (the Woodwind Fingering Guide). You will find all the trills listed there.

As far as rules go, when the trill is marked, you alternate very rapidly between the note on the staff and the next note that would be in the scale of whatever key the piece you are playing is in. Trills are always half-steps or whole-steps, anything more is called a tremolo and is marked differently
