is it good to soak your reeds? do they last longer or play any better?

I don't think you're supposed to soak your reeds, but then I don't know. I thought it was bad for them, they curl if you don't dry them thouroughly.

always soak new reeds to make them easier to play. Do so for about 5 minutes in warm water, then make sure all the water has gone from inside. The reed manufacturers should send instructions on this tho.

You can soak reeds by not too long. ^_^;; They will curl up when dry if you're not careful, like what the others said. 5-10 minutes will do. Usually what I do is; after I soak my reeds, I take them out and lay them on a flat surface, and wet my index finger and rub them from 'U' part to the tip, 10-20 times. By doing this, you're actually making the water to soak into the tiny holes on the reed, thus making them softer and easier to break into, but don't expect to break into one entirely. Sorry my explaination isn't good, but its just a rough idea.

perhaps first wetting the reeds several times to let the
reed break in then learning how to do knife work on the reed would be the best way to break in a reed

i think that you should soak the read 4 like 5 or so minutes but you have to remeber to put it away after you use it thus if you don't then it won't last as long as others.

After you soak them you can put them in a reed case. You can buy them to hold either 2 or 4 reeds at a time. You should also put them in there after every use. This prevents any warping. The cases only cost like $5.

you need to soak your reeds for a little bit of time, u can soak the with water or just your mouth u should keep the in a case and you may need to bend them if warped. don't keep your reeds for too long and remember to keep extras. i would number them from best to worst. hope i was helpful!!!
