 Another clarinet fingering query
Author: AnnieMatilda

I have not been playing very long and would value some advice on this fingering query. I am working on a piece from Demnitz Fundamental Scale and Chord Studies. The piece is in F minor and calls for a middle C# to be followed by a low E# then a G# then back to the C#. Unless I am missing a trick I cannot see a way of using alternate pinkies for all these notes. If this is indeed the case what in your opinion is the best way of tackling this sequence and what side does the E# fit in the best?

Thank you in anticipation.

Annie

Hi Annie
I just found this forum and it seems you haven't got an answer to your question. Maybe you have found a solution - however here is how I do. Play the C#, then E# with right hand fifth finger, and then (the difficult part): you have to slide the fifth finger from the E# key to the G# key. If this is requested to be performed legato it will be almost impossible. If necessary take the liberty to make a very short gap between E# and G#, and you will have the time to move the finger from one key to the other.
