hey,
ive played bassoon for 2 years and i am currently in 9th grade in symphonic winds our top band. i've been told i have an extremly good tone and i proved it by placing 1 chair in an honors band for our state. any ways....i have a question for my fellow bassoonists out there, is there ant way to make your tone and quality over all sound better and is there any difference between a contrabassoon from a regular bassoon besides that the contra is an octave lower. and i would also like to know if the contra bassoon is fingered differently from the bassoon.
thanks for your help!
Bob

contra bassoon fingerings are different and tone can be effected by the reed, the bassoon, and the strength of your embochure

you have to hear it basically. once you know where you are, the actual adjusting is usually pretty easy, the bassoon gives you lots of room to bend pitches.
