I am a music director at a church, and I have a very talented tenor saxophonist in my group. Being a composition major, I always like to challenge my instrumentalists. I am using a piece at Christmas in which some sort of multiphonic on either a G# major (concert pitch) chord or a D major (concert pitch) chord would be perfect. Any suggestions I can give him (fingerings.....techniques.....ANYTHING)?
Thanks!

One thing you might try is to have your sax player finger a low E, then press the middle palm key (the one that would make an Eb in the third octave). This will give you a B-D Concert harmony. The bottom note is B Concert with a D concert on top. Depending on your music, this should fit in. This harmony is a little shaky to get out and it HAS to be played quietly.
