 Vandoren B45 clarinet mouthpiece

okay i finally got the Vandoren B45 clarinet mouthpiece for clarinet in bflat. i asked and searched for many people's opinion on this mouthpiece. i finally decided to get it myself and see if the mouthpiece could live up to the hype. Okay, first, the mouthpiece smells like rubber but that is an unimportant detail. My previous mouthpiece was a generic plastic mouthpiece. When i got the B45, yes, i did notice an improvement in tone. low notes were full and round. throat tones were full and round. the mouthpiece helped me produce a pretty decent throat bflat! i could play louder and softer than i normally could play. my overall sound improved. however i couldn't reach super c (the highest c on the clarinet... low c, middle c, high c, then there is super c) but i COULD with my old mouthpiece. maybe this is because i haven't really gotten used to the mouthpiece yet. What is my opinion on the Vandoren B45 clarinet mouthpiece? This is a GOOD mouthpiece; i WOULD NOT call it a SPECTACULAR, GO BUY NOW, WILL SOLVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS mouthpiece; but i will go further and say it is a VERY GOOD mouthpiece.

Probably because of the tip opening?

They discuss about mouthpieces there 24/7. Good to hear that your new mouthpiece helped!

This is going to sound stupid. I own a Yamaha Pro Bass Clarinet, I have a Vandoren B45 and I also have the mouthpiece it came with (Yamaha 4C). The 4C is by far a much better mouthpiece, 2nd break (above high C Thumb & Register Key) is very very easy. Just remember the half vent key for your first finger left hand.
But also, ligatures: Vandoren soft Leather ligature, comes second to the BK Standard Soft Lig.
If you have Bass Clarinet (or Bassoon/Contra) questions. Post them here or drop me a line, as I am glad to help share my wisdom.......lol
