the eflat key of my oboe (at the bottom, the group of keys that are the C, Csharp, and eflat keys) is broken. the eflat key itself is supposed to be up so that it may be pressed down but on my oboe it is down. in otherwords, it is broken, constantly down, and therefore open, and i don't know how to fix it. i have tried tightening and loosening every screw imaginable. i have done everything short of taking the key apart which we all know means disassemblying the entire oboe. i don't know what do but i think it may have somehting to do with the pad. i don't know... i hope someone understands this post and can think of a solutionl.

i think it may be a spring....at least what you descrribe sounds similar to what happens on a clarinet whan you have a spring out of place...buut ive never looked that closely at an oboe to know what it would be right off

i mean, you must not adjust the screws yourself if you are not aware of what you are doing, most of the screws that are near the keys themselves are alignment screws, and a wrong move will make your oboe totally unplayable. The Eb key may well be a problem of spring or sticky pad, but i am that it ca be solve if you bring it to your local music experts. Are there shops of some sort in your area? I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. There are too many possibilities of what might have caused the problem. You can try this website: http://test.woodwind.org/oboe/BBoard/list.html?f=10

My oboe was fixed just a few days ago. Tuesday, I think. The two oboes I have both had the same problem. They were fixed. Today, the one I normally use wouldn't play e flat and d natural. I switched to the other one and it did the same thing. I also play flute, so I put the oboes up and played my flute. I normally know how to fix my instruments, but now, I can't find the problem at all. HELP!!! PLEASE!!!
