I need help with my upper range on trumpet. Currently, my highest note is an octave higher than the G over the staff. I've been stuck on that note for over a year and haven't been able to play any higher. Can anyone help me with this problem?

ok, wait a second...are you complaining that your highest note is a double-G? If you can actually hit that note and make it sound good, you, my friend, are in the upper class of trumpet players. As for notes higher than that, you need to get a lead trumpet mouthpiece, if you don't already have one. The smaller the cup is on the mouthpiece, the higher it will let you play. Just as a suggestion, don't get too stuck on playing high. People that play high all the time often lose a lot of their melodic flexibility.

K dood. I was having your trouble just this year. I was stuck on that darn g. what you do is get the biggest mouthpeice you ahve and do lipslurs on it until you are comfortable with your range with the huge mouthpeice. using your shallow mouthpeice you will play at ease. that is how i got my range to triple c and d's.
