The entry ashley just posted about her lower notes reminded me of a problem I have been working on. I know as I go through which ever music school I get into that I'll learn this, however I'll ask anyway since I was reminded. On the oboe, if anyone may know, When there are no alternate fingerings for the lowest notes, like b to b-flat or c to c-sharp, should I be practicing more of a slide to the next key or is it a do the best you can type of thing. I feel that I can't keep my hands relaxed properly when playing these combinations. They begin to cramp, especially when playing a c to c-sharp. Even playing this combination once can cause my hands to cramp. If anyone has any advice I would be very thankful.
