Well fingering are the same. You need to play a little louder to hold against the band because alto doesn't cay well. The bottom right-hand key is low Eb (underneath the E key.) Er, embouchure needs to be a little looser and to get the high notes out chances are you'll need a bit more breath support. Um, what else? Well obviously the keys ae a little further apart than on Bb but so long as you have average sized hands you should be OK. You'll need to use the sling, probably, and make sure you take most of the weight around your neck, NOT on your thumb.
Anyway, hope it goes OK!

I also switched to the alto clarinet, being the only one in the band and also the whole district in 10 years! I knew just as much about it as you did. It's actually pretty easy to catch on to, me being a pretty average Bb player. You just learn some new fingerings and, trust me, you'll surprise yourself. Hope you have some good playing!!
