what do you call a contra alto clarinet in french. i hope i said that right. i'm trying to say the clarinet an octave under the alto clarinet. isn;t the bass flute in c? isnt it just one octave below the concert flute? what is the bass flute called infrench? is it called 'flute basse'? would alto flute be called 'flute alto' or 'flute en sol' in french? where can i find a list of instruments, hopefully all instruments in different languages. it seems like i'm asking for frivilous information but when i compose i like to list the instruments in different languages. i think 'cor chromatiques en fa' sounds a lot better than 'horn in f'

first...
1) the contra alto clarinet is (la) clarinette contralto,
2) the bass flute is in C, pitched one octave below the regular flute (the alto flute is in G)
3) the alto flute is (la) flûte alto en sol,
4) the horn is (le) cor, so a horn in F is un cor en fa. i'm not sure where the chromatique came from. and multiple horns are cors...when numbering them, use the ordinal numbers (1er/1ère, 2e, 3e, 4e, etc.).
