How many ppl in here play Yamaha flute? I'd like to hear some comments about Yamaha flute as i'm trying to buy a new flute and i couldn't find a lot of testimonials on the net for Yamaha flute.
It would be great if you guys can give me some comments about it and what model you guys are play, thanks guys.

I've played for many years. (too many to say, it would give away my age!) and I've owned several flutes. I always go back to a Yamaha. If you can't afford a flute that costs more than your car, I think Yamahas are the way to go. Even the student models have quality springs, so you won't hear that "clunky" sound that you get with so many inexpensive brands. Of course, all that is just my opinion and you should visit a music store and check several flutes out before you purchase. Good luck!

I play a Gemeinhardt. They're pretty good! (I mean hey, I got first chair with it and have had it for four years!)

I've played several flutes, including gemienhart and yamaha. I'd have to say that for me, (small hands) the yamaha wins hands down on feel. It fits better. Almost every website i've seen says the sound quality is great for such a cheap instrument. Gemenharts you have to buy a better (more expensive) model to get the same sound quality, and i find that they don't have the same durability. If you get an open hole version, the yamaha has much smaller holes, so if you are like me and have small fingers, this would work out much better. Jupiter flutes are also cheap, but they can be cheap sounding as well. You really should try out the flutes in the store to see which one fits you better. everyone is different. BUt if you are ordering online and cannot check it out in person, a yamaha is always a sure buy.
